Halloween Make-Up - All Things Glitter, Sequins and Jewels

This year has seen everything that glitters and sparkles. With the rise of brands such as, The Gypsy Shrine, people have been going crazy over be-jeweled and sequin designs on their faces and body. Missguided and Superdrug sell The Gypsy Shrine pre-designed templates for £8-12, but Primark sell a similar version for £1.50 so for one night is paying the extra really worth it? I tried it out.
A few weeks earlier, I attended a carnival event where I first tried out a sequin design; I went for a turquoise blue mixed with silver. I used hair gel to prime the area around my eye,  you need to get the balance in size, not too big but definitely go right to the start of your hair line and try to shape it around your eye. You then use a paintbrush to dab on larger sequins of the dominant colour, so for me, blue. You then add some smaller sequins and then glitter using the same dabbing technique, gradually building up the layers and introducing the silver colour towards the end. To keep the sequins and glitter in place use hairspray! This look cost no more than £5 depending on the amount you add but you can get cheap hair gel from places such as Superdrug and Wilko and you can buy glitter online or at any craft store.

Halloween Look
I bought the gold and silver jewel template from Primark, I was a little disappointed by the fact that it didn't have any kind of theme to it, such as The Gypsy Shrines Snow Queen or Mermaid design.  I would suggest you take a photo of the design first before you try and tackle application so you know what design you are going for. I used tweezers to take the jewels off of the plastic and a earbud to push on and secure them on my face. I would say, that I was disappointed by the fact that majority of the glue on the gems stuck to the packaging when I was trying to remove it from the plastic sheet, however, I combated this issue by using a dot of eyelash glue on the back of the gem and holding it in place until it
dried on my face. My other negative about the Primark design is that the gems were very small so I lost loads of them and they were tricky to handle. I also felt that a loss of a few jewels affect the overall look of the design and as they were smaller they had less of an impact that other design's I've seen. Overall, I think that for £1.50 for some shiny plastic you wear on your face and then throw in the bin or worse, loose on the club dance floor, you can't go wrong. It didn't have as much wow factor as other's I have seen but that did mean it was less complex and easier to apply for a beginner like me. Personally I feel that if you combined the glitter and sequin technique with the jewels. You are on to a winner for a cute, on-trend halloween outfit that will make you shine bright like the diamond that you are.
